A woman was struck in the leg by a flying buzzsaw from a construction site in midtown Manhattan Tuesday morning.
The woman suffered a cut but was not seriously injured, according to Det. Annette Markowski, spokeswoman for the New York Police Department.
The saw flew about 100 feet before striking a tree and then hitting the woman, Markowski said.
The "thing came flying right by my head, missed me by that much. You could hear it coming and it went right by me," witness Matthew Bisi told NBC4 New York, which first reported the story.
A construction company, working for the city of New York, was fixing a water main break at 48th Street and Ninth Avenue.
New York's Department of Design and Construction said it is investigating the incident, according to NBC4.
