ROME (KSDK) - Wherever Pope Francis travels, throngs of onlookers and adoring crowds become an ordinary sight. But as this pope has proven,

While traveling in southern Italy this past weekend, the pontiff's motorcade stopped in the middle of a highway so the Holy Father could administer a blessing to a disabled woman.

The family, which held signs reading, "Please come and bless little Roberta," posted a video on YouTube to document its encounter with Pope Francis, and wrote a thank you note to the pope on Facebook.

Pope Francis, who was returning to Vatican City after delivering a speech in Cassano all Jonio, sprang from the small car, laid his hands on the woman, and greeted the family gathered on the roadside before getting back into his vehicle and riding off.

The entire blessing took just over a minute.
