CINCINNATI -- A former teacher convicted last year of having sex with a 16-year-old student has been released from prison after serving six months of her two-year sentence.

Julie Hautzenroeder, 37, was convicted by a Hamilton County jury of sexual battery for having sex with a sophomore.

Hamilton County Judge Norbert Nadel granted her release Thursday and said the fact she has an 8-year-old daughter played a part in her release.

"I indicated what I told her at her sentencing that what she did was stupid and irresponsible," Nadel said. "She will likely never teach again. She basically ruined her life."

The former Colerain High School teacher will have to register with law enforcement every 90 days as a sex offender for the rest of her life. She is also on probation for additional six months.

Hautzenroeder was found not guilty on charges of having sex with a second teen student even though both boys were in their underwear in her Loveland, Ohio bedroom and gave very similar testimony.

She was a Colerain High School science teacher for 10 years before resigning last December when the allegations started swirling.

Hautzenroeder, who pleaded not guilty, admitted to sending inappropriate texts to the teen but denied she had sex with him. The students, though, testified they had alcohol and marijuana while at Hautzenroeder's home and that each had sex with her.
