ST. LOUIS – The City of St. Louis will not make a run to host the 2016 Democratic National Convention.
Instead, the city will focus on making a bid to host the DNC in 2020.
Maggie Crane, a spokesperson for the City of St. Louis, says the city's civic focus right now is to complete the CityArchRiver project. She says because hosting the DNC requires tens of millions of dollars in private funding, it doesn't make financial sense to try to host the convention in 2016.
Crane says St. Louis is planning "to make a serious run" in 2020 and show off the downtown corridor's transformation.
