WASHINGTON – NewsChannel 5's Mike Bush traveled to Washington, D.C. this week to meet with President Barack Obama.

The agenda at the White House Wednesday was the president's push to increase the minimum wage from $7.25 an hour to $10.10 an hour. But what ended up dominating the news briefing was the crisis in Crimea.

Most of the questions posed to White House Press Secretary Jay Carney pertained to Ukraine and its troops pulling out, conceding defeat to Russia.

Here's what the president had to say about Ukraine during Bush's one-on-one interview with him:

Late Wednesday afternoon, President Obama spoke with our Mike Bush about whether American Troops are an option if the sanctions against President Putin don't work.

The pair also discussed minimum wage. President Obama says raising the minimum wage will help nearly 600,000 workers in Missouri, and 1.1 million in Illinois. Some of his senior advisors say in real terms the minimum wage is worth less today than it was in 1950. Taking it to $10.10 per hour would put a full-time worker over the poverty line.

Of course, not everybody agrees with this proposal. Here's what the president had to say when Bush brought that up:

President Obama wants to give America a raise

The Congressional Budget Office says raising the minimum wage could cost 500,000 jobs.

The president also shared with Bush that he thinks Missouri's state legislature is not doing the right thing when it comes to Medicaid expansion:

President Barack Obama told NewsChannel 5's Mike Bush Wednesday that he thinks Missouri's state legislature is not doing the right thing when it comes to Medicaid expansion.

Now, before Bush got to sit down with the president, he shared a very special moment with "First Dog" Bo Obama, who gave him a quick kiss before walking away.
