ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – Illinois drivers using the Poplar Street Bridge will have to change their strategy for getting into downtown St. Louis, starting May 27.
The Missouri Department of Transportation will close the westbound Poplar Street Bridge to Interstate 44/Memorial Drive ramp for a year.
Throughout the next year, MoDOT will rebuild the ramps from the Poplar Street Bridge to eastbound I-44 and southbound Interstate 55. MoDOT will also close the right lane of the westbound Poplar Street Bridge.
Drivers are encouraged to use the Eads Bridge, the Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge, or stay on Interstate 64 to the 9th Street exit.
The construction is a part of the ongoing CityArchRiver Park over the Highway project. Earlier this year, MoDOT closed the eastbound Memorial Drive exit as well as Walnut.
