ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - After years of re-paving and more than a million dollar attempt to fix it, commuters are saying the Poplar Street Bridge is still a rough ride.

Commuters are complaining that the bridge is pock marked with potholes, especially coming from Illinois to St. Louis in the right lane.

That's close to where construction crews are working to renovate the bridge.

MoDOT used a special mix it hoped would stick to the surface of the bridge and last for about four years, until the construction is finished.

But the agency said the pavement is not working and it's still considering options for fixing the bridge surface.

In addition to a temporary fix, MoDOT said it's working on a permanent resurfacing for the steel bridge that can be put down in about two years when construction is finished.
