Regardless of how his Minnesota Vikings fare in their final two games, second-year quarterback Christian Ponder is definitely getting a ring this season.
Just two weeks after confirming their engagement, Ponder and ESPN college football reporter Samantha Steele were married Monday afternoon in St. Croix County (Wisc.) Court, which is 30 miles east of Minneapolis and just a few miles from the Minnesota state line.
Via the Leader-Telegram (Eau Claire, Wisc.):
Ponder, 24, and Steele, who turned 27 last week, were married by Court Commissioner Stephen Dunlap. According to county records, Steele listed an Arizona address, while Ponder listed his residence as Excelsior, Minn. It is the first marriage for both.
As we mentioned several weeks ago, the pair started dating earlier this season after meeting on the set of ESPN's College Gameday and while they've tried to keep the relationship under wraps, it was revealed after Ponder admitted they were dating to a fan on Twitter.
"There's been a thousand articles today about it," Ponder said at the time. "You can't really worry about it. You've got to try to keep it private, but that's just part of the industry, part of the job. I don't know. Comes with the territory."
Ponder won't have much time to focus on the honeymoon until after the season. His team is currently 8-6 and tied for the final wild-card spot in the NFC with a tough matchup against the Houston Texans coming up Sunday.
