Bradley Cooper is going from sexiest man alive to most weaponized raccoon in the galaxy.
The Oscar-nominated Silver Linings Playbook actor has officially signed on to voice the Marvel Comics fan-favorite cult character Rocket Raccoon in Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel Studios announced Friday. The casting marks Cooper's first time as a voiceover actor.
Originally created by Bill Mantlo and Keith Giffen in 1976, Rocket is an anthropomorphic character from comics who is not to be trifled with - he's super-smart, an expert marksman (or marks-racoon) and also quite furry. The character currently is one of the major players in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy book written by Brian Michael Bendis.
Cooper joins the core cast of Guardians, which is directed by James Gunn and is filming now in London for an Aug. 1, 2014, release date. Also a part of the team are Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora and Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer.
The one movie Guardian not accounted for yet is Rocket's pal from the comics, Groot - Vin Diesel is in talks with Marvel to play the tree-like cosmic hero.
