(KSDK Sports) -- Scott Nichol plays center for the Blues and there's not much better when it comes to taking the puck in a faceoff. With all that Nichol gives the Blues on the ice, there's a part of him fans don't see. He's the outspoken veteran keeping this young talented roster grounded.

He was drafted in the 11th round, the 272nd pick overalll, and played with 6 different teams. Along the way Nichol learned a level headed approach and learned how a mixed levity makes the best locker rooms.

Nichol re-signed with the Blues in the offseason as he gets closer to retirement playing with a team that can win carries more weight.

Nichol is evidence the most important isn't always the one with the most points.
