BOSTON (KSDK) – With t-minus 29 days until Olympic opening ceremonies in Sochi, the U.S. team is finally coming together.

Anne Allred was in Boston covering the U.S. Figure Skating Championships, which will determine which 15 skaters make the Olympic team. Four of those skaters have local ties.

Wednesday was practice day. Kansas City native John Coughlin is a strong contender for Team USA, as is St. Louis native Brandon Mroz, who grew up in Oakville in south St. Louis County.

On the women's side, St. Louisan Barbie Long and Gracie Gold, from Springfield, are also contenders. Competition begins Thursday.
