(KSDK Sports) -- The Cardinals announced that Jaime Garcia is suffering from shoulder discomfort. He is flying back to St. Louis today for additional tests.
Garcia is likely a long shot for Opening Day, and will probably be on the disabled list to start the season. The Cardinals are not getting a lot of bang for their buck with Garcia, who is in the middle of a $27 million contract. He has just started 29 games the last two years.
In a phone conversation with KSDK Sports Director Rene Knott on Saturday, Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said he is concerned about Garcia's injury. "I was hoping this was something that was behind us, but clearly it's not," said Mozeliak.
