BOSTON (KSDK) - Cardinals right fielder Carlos Beltran left Game 1 of the World Series before the third inning after crashing into the outfield wall.
Beltran's right arm and side hit hard against the five-foot high outfield wall at Fenway Park to rob Red Sox power hitter David Ortiz of a grand slam.
Beltran suffered a right rib contusion.
Jon Jay came into the game and placed in center field; Shane Robinson moved to right field.
Beltran was playing in his 46th postseason game. No other player had appeared in more games before reaching a World Series.
