ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – With St. Louis Cardinals fans recovering from Game 1 of the World Series, the social media world has been abuzz about a Boston Red Sox pitcher's glove.
Cardinals minor league player Tyler Melling tweeted a photo of Red Sox Pitcher Jon Lester and asked if the goo on his glove was Vaseline. That was enough to get the entire world questioning the goo and even go as far as accusing him of cheating.
Pat Courtney, MLB's senior vice president of public relations, issued the following statement on Thursday:
"We cannot draw any conclusions from this video. There were no complaints from the Cardinals and the umpires never detected anything indicating a foreign substance throughout the game."
Cardinals General Manager John Mozeliak called his glove a non-issue.
People have tweeted and posted photos and Vine videos of Lester's glove.
News Channel 5's Frank Cusumano has more on this story at noon.
