ST. LOUIS – Baseball fans have gathered enough signatures to get a response from the White House about Budweiser's "Make Opening Day a Holiday" campaign.

The petition was launched Feb. 24 and needed 100,000 signatures. As of 8:45 p.m. March 31, the petition had 100,275.

Hall of Fame shortstop Ozzie Smith partnered with Budweiser in an effort to get President Obama to declare opening day of the Major League Baseball season a day of national observance.

It may take up to 60 days for a decision to be made. The petition will remain live on WhiteHouse.gov until then.
