The pre-game ceremonies were scheduled to kick off with an appearance by the Budweiser Clydesdales, but the wet weather and weight of the horses caused the appearance to be cancelled. Mayor Francis Slay, County Executive Charlie Dooley, and Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder were on hand as Cardinals Hall of Famers were introduced via a Ford motorcade that drover around the warning track. The 2014 St. Louis Cardinals also arrived via Ford motorcade, riding in 2014 Ford F-150 Raptors.

After the teams were announced, the 2013 National League Champions banner was raised in the outfield. Curtis Finch, Jr., a top 10 American Idol finalist, sang the National Anthem.

Former Cardinals pitcher Chris Carpenter threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
