ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The St. Louis Cardinals recalled rookie outfielder Randal Grichuk to the club from its Triple-A affiliate in Memphis, and have sent Shane Robinson back to the Redbirds.
Grichuk, 22, hit his tenth home run Thursday for Memphis and at present is batting .315 with 32 RBI for the club.
Grichuk made his debut for the Cardinals earlier in the season, going just 3 for 21 in nine game appearances. Despite the setback in the majors, Grichuk is crushing the ball in the minor leagues. He's ranked fifth in slugging percentage in the Pacific Coast League (.589), including .941 against left-handed pitching. He's batting .451 overall against southpaws.
