(KSDK Sports) -- The question had been asked for weeks, "when first baseman Matt Adams was ready to return, who would go down?" Today we know the answer as the Cardinals announced that Adams has been activated from the 15-day disabled list and optioned outfielder Oscar Taveras to Memphis (AAA).
Adams completed a four game injury rehabilitation stint with Memphis this past week, going 3-for-15 with a pair of RBI. Adams is currently ranked 5th in the National League with his team-leading .325 batting average, and despite missing 13 games, he is still tied for the team lead with 16 doubles.
Taveras, who homered in his Major League debut on May 31, appeared in 11 games for the Cardinals, starting 10 of those games in right field.
