ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – Many have said that hitting a baseball is one of the hardest things to do in sports.

When the baseball world lost Tony Gwynn – one of the best hitters in history – we thought we'd show you how difficult it is to hit a home run.

Future Hall of Fame pitcher John Smoltz told Frank Cusumano on his radio show that Tony Gwynn could easily recognize the spin of all the pitches.

When it comes to hitting, the eyes have it. The ability to process what type of pitch it is. A hitter has about .4 seconds.
