ST. LOUIS - Michael Sam is officially a Cowboy. He practiced with the Dallas Cowboys for the first time Wednesday.

Sam is the first openly gay player to open the season with an NFL team. The former Mizzou All-American was released over the weekend by the St. Louis Rams.

He grew grew up in Texas and says it's a dream come true to suit up for the Cowboys.

The Michael Sam story has become headline news in the Lonestar State. NewsChannel 5's Rene Knott learned more about the mood in Dallas from legendary WFAA sportscaster Dale Henson.
