A local company says there is no need to worry. Nidec Motor Corporation based in Ferguson in north St. Louis County is playing an integral role in all that snow production. The company specializes in making giant motors. And those motors are proving more and more important as some of the snow, turns to mush.

The company has about 500 employees in St. Louis and 10,000 worldwide.

"The motors are designed and engineered in St. Louis and they are manufactured in Arkansas," said Chris Lampe, the corporate spokesperson. "We are very proud to be a part of the 2014 Olympics. We provided 21 vertical solid shaft motors. There are 14, 600 horsepower motors. There are seven 300, horsepower motors, which are pumping water at 800 gallons a minute up about 300 feet to where all the snow making machines are."

Lampe confidently said the Olympic snow will be just fine, despite the temperatures.
