ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – St. Louis will serve as the host site for the 2014 Fed Cup by BNP Paribas World Group Playoff match this spring.
The United States will face France at the Saint Louis University's Chaifetz Arena in the world's largest annual international women's team competition in tennis.
This is the second time that the state of Missouri has hosted the competition, and the first for St. Louis. The first was held in Springfield, Mo. at the Cooper Tennis Complex in 2002.
The teams will play in a best-of-five series April 19-20 with two singles matches, two reverse singles matches and a doubles match. Matches will be held indoors.
The U.S. landed in a playoff match after losing to Italy, 3-1, in the Fed Cup quarterfinals in Cleveland. Overall, the U.S. leads France 11-1 in Fed Cup play, and 3-1 in Fed Cup playoffs.
Players will be announced 10 days before the start of competition, according to the USTA website. Young tennis stars Christina McHale, Lauren Davis, Madison Keys and Alison Riske competed in the February Fed Cup match.
Tickets for the match will go on sale, starting March 20 with a USTA member presale. Ticket sales open to the general public the next day at 10 a.m.
