DULUTH, Minn. (NBC) - This is a big storm covering a lot of territory. In fact, parts of nine states are under winter storm warnings Tuesday.
On Monday, Kalispell, Mont. got dumped on with some of the mountains reporting as much as 15 inches and it's still snowing on Tuesday.
To the east in Fargo, N.D., it's in the low 20s and by weekend, it will be in the low 20s below zero. They had several inches of snow Monday and will get another six inches Tuesday and into Wednesday morning.
So far, nine inches of snow has fallen in Duluth, Minn. and some spots north of town have had 14 inches of snow and they could get another foot before it stops.
The wind will also pick up and drive in the coldest air this season. We are talking about dangerous wind chills across the Dakotas and parts of the Midwest. Wind chills could be as cold as 30 degrees below zero.
The concern later this week is that cold air driving south. Texas, parts of Texas, Arkansas, even into Oklahoma and into the Tennessee valley will be susceptible to significant icing. An ice storm could knock out power to thousands late Thursday and Friday.
