ST. LOUIS – Ameren Missouri restoration work is in full swing.

On Thursday, Ameren Missouri deployed more than 500 team members to southeast Missouri in anticipation of the winter weather.

A mobile command center is active in Hayti, Mo. and is overseeing efforts throughout the region. Logistics are being coordinated by Ameren Missouri's Emergency Operations Center, which was activated at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

"Falling branches often bring down power lines in an ice storm," said Michael Moehn, senior vice president, Ameren Missouri Customer Operations. "Safety is critical at this time. If customers see a downed line, we are asking them to stay clear of the line and surrounding area and call us immediately."

Freezing rain continues to fall in the Cape Girardeau area, coating power lines with ice. Wind is also causing power lines to bounce, which may lead to more outages.

If you spot a downed power line, customers should call 1-800-552-7583 to report the line to Ameren Missouri, or call 911. You should always stay away from a downed line and assume that it is charged.

Customers with special needs may need to make alternative arrangements if power is out.

Power outages can be reported via the Ameren Missouri website or by calling 1-800-552-7583. Outage information is also available on the website.
