ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – Winter weather moving through the area has road crews out and trying to make it safe for morning commuters.
A wintry mix of sleet, freezing rain and snow fell Thursday with another round of snow expected throughout the day Friday.
According to Marie Elliot with Missouri Department of Transportation, crews responded to more than 195 assist calls within the past 24 hours, which includes non-weather related calls. According to another MoDOT spokeswoman, 200 trucks are dumping a mixture of beet juice and calcium chloride with salt to stick to roads.
Ramps and overpasses are slick.
According to an Illinois Department of Transportation spokesperson, roads are looking good but there are some slick spots and trouble areas to be wary.
According to Metro, Metrolink and Metrobuses are running normally with no major delays. Riders are asked to be careful on Metrolink platforms, steps, elevators and parking lots for slick spots, and riders are asked to plan ahead for delays and give extra time for the commute.
