ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – Not even a special-looking sun could bring a great deal of warmth to the St. Louis area Monday.
A pretty impressive halo has been ringing around sun today. We know full well, though, it's got nothing to do with Mother Nature's good mood since she's been giving us the cold shoulder quite a bit lately.
But cold does have something to do with it.
The halo is a result of sunlight passing through the cirrus clouds high above us, which are composed entirely of ice crystals. Those ice crystals break the sun's rays down into a lovely crown around the sun.
If you've got a photo of the sun, share it with us on Facebook, Twitter or email it to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
