ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – Local charity Heat-Up St. Louis has raised $41,200 since Christmas Day, according to a news release.

These donations came solely through Heat Up St. Louis' website at The organization claims it needs as much money as possible, since it calls this its worst winter since its inception in 2000.

All of the donations support paying heating bills for the elderly and disabled – as well as qualified low-income individuals.

"We're so grateful to the generosity of the public, especially during this potentially life-threatening weather moment in our St. Louis regional history," Chair Emeritus Rev. Earl Nance said in a news release.
