ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - What a difference a week makes. In one week we went from nearly a foot of snow and record cold temperatures, to a high of 59 degrees. Many people had cabin fever and wanted to get out and enjoy the nice temperatures.

Steinberg Memorial Skating Rink in Forest Park was crowded with people of all ages. Most schools have been closed all week due to the amount of snow, and parents were especially happy to get the kids out to enjoy some fresh air and to burn off that excess energy.

For one couple, this was a special day. Chris Mitchell proposed to his girlfriend in the middle of the ice rink. Chris said that he had planned to propose last week, but the snow and cold prevented him from doing so. His new fiancé, Britney Elbrecht says that she had no idea that Chris was going to propose, but is grateful for the warm weather.
