ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Snowfall rates are beginning to die down as drier air moves in from the southwest.

Expect heavier snowfall east and north of St. Louis this evening, but that will decrease eventually as well. Some sleet and freezing drizzle is also possible.

Roads are very slick and snow covered and what falls will stick, with temps well below freezing. Winds will increase out of the north later tonight with blowing and drifting snow possible especially areas to the north. Visibilities can be as low as a quarter mile.

A number of schools have cancelled classes for Tuesday and some have already announced early dismissal for the afternoon.
