ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Our humid and hot Monday (we had a high of 89) is likely to finish stormy and there is a possibility some of the storms we get could be severe.
The atmosphere is primed after our steamy start to the workweek as thunderstorms come in from the west. Early this evening they'll push across Montgomery and Gasconade, Phelps and Crawford counties from early to mid-evening then march east in to the metro from mid to late evening and slowly push across the eastern portions of the NewsChannel 5 viewing area through at least 3 a.m. to 5 a.m.
There is a slight chance these storms could be severe with the biggest threat coming from the potential for damaging winds and hail but expect a lot of lightning and heavy rain as well.
By Tuesday morning a cold front will be arriving and going away will be the threat of storms although showers will linger. Also gone…warm weather. Highs Tuesday will be in the mid-60s and we won't get out of the 50s Wednesday.
