ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. (KSDK) –The cleanup is underway in St. Charles County after a strong storm blew through Saturday afternoon. The National Weather service confirms an EF-0 tornado hit St. Peters. It knocked down trees and damaged some buildings, including a health club. There are no reports of injuries from the storm.
There are about a half dozen homes in a neighborhood off Queens Brooke Blvd. that were damaged. One of them belongs to Bob Axetell.
"The house has been better. Structurally it's pretty sound. But it tore the roof off, tore the siding off and threw everything around in the yard," Axetell said.
Recently Axetell's had a streak of bad luck including a back injury and now the storm damage.

The crew in his backyard Sunday had been working for hours.
"Getting the debris out of the way, get the roof tarped up. This one had plywood missing so we had to put plywood in before we tarped it," John Nickeson said.
But they didn't wait for a call from Axetell to come help. You see, Nickeson and Axetell have been friends for 15 years. It just so happens Nickeson works for Lima Contracting, LLC and has access to the tools to help his buddy out of a jam.
"If he hadn't come along i don't know what i would've done. I mean none of this would be done yet, not even close,"Axetell said.
Storms have kept Nickeson and his crew very busy in the St. Charles area over the last day and the last few years.
"It seems like every year it's getting worse and worse. We're having them at least one or two, maybe even four or five evens if you count straight line winds," Nickeson said.
But not too busy to help a friend in need.
"John absolutely saved me no question about it," Axetell said. "Really when it boils down to it good friend will bail you out every time."
There is still a lot of repair work to be done in the St. Peters area. So remember, after a storm don't just hire any contractor who knocks on your door. Do your research and make sure the company is licensed and bonded. Check them out with the Better Business Bureau as well.
