ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for most of the NewsChannel 5 viewing area until 6 p.m.

The second cold front in two days arrives Monday afternoon. When it gets here, storms will come with it. When it leaves, they'll go away along with the heat and humidity.

This afternoon look for scattered storms and highs in the mid to upper 80s. There is a slight chance some of these storms could be severe in southeast Missouri, southeast and eastern Illinois.

Storms will move out of the St. Louis metropolitan area by early evening and be gone from the NewsChannel 5 viewing area by midnight.

Then, the cold air arrives.

Temperatures will fall into the upper 60s by late evening with lows dropping into the upper 50s overnight.

Tuesday, we'll start with clear skies but clouds will build in the afternoon. We might see a sprinkle or shower with highs in the mid-70s
