ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Monday is going to be a long weather day.

Overnight storms are likely to arrive between 3 a.m. and last until 5 a.m. in the metro region, and 7a.m. for areas south and east, making the morning commute more than a bit interesting.

Big heat sets in from noon through 8 p.m. An Excessive Heat Advisory will be in effect for that time period for St. Louis City, as well as St. Louis, St. Charles, Madison and St. Clair counties. Highs will be in the mid-90s and the expected heat index could be between 100 and 105 degrees.

Monday evening we're expecting strong to severe storms to arrive. North and west by 8 p.m. or 9 p.m., the metro area by 10 p.m. or 11 p.m., and south and east through 2 a.m.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, we still may see scattered storms but it will be cooler. And Thursday into the Fourth of July? Perfect weather with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.
