ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Here's the good news: by Wednesday it's going to be just wonderful.

In the meantime, we're well on our way to highs in the mid-90s and heat indices at or above 100 degrees. In addition, we'll see scattered thunderstorms through early evening and some of those could be severe. And this is just the prelude.

Late this evening and overnight, a complex of storms will develop out west and work its way east through the NewsChannel 5 viewing area. These storms will produce heavy rain and potentially damaging winds. There is a chance of severe weather through sunrise.

On Tuesday morning, the cold front responsible for all this unsettled weather will push well to the south of St. Louis, leaving most of us with morning showers and maybe even afternoon sun along with highs in the upper 80s.

But south of the front there will still be a chance for strong storms across the southern portions of the NewsChannel 5 viewing area.

On Wednesday? Sunny and 85 degrees!
