1,500 service calls reported in Missouri

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KSDK) – Though much of this weekend's winter storm seems to have passed, the State Emergency Operations Center continues its 24-hour operations.

"I continue to urge Missourians to avoid unnecessary travel, to check on neighbors and folks who might need assistance and to be cautious even while walking in their neighborhoods," Gov. Jay Nixon said in a news release.

Power loss continues to be a concern n southern and southeast Missouri.

Since the storm, the Missouri State Highway Patrol has responded to more than 1,500 vehicle slide-offs, crashes, stranded motorists and calls for service. MoDOT is using 1,500 vehicles to plow and treat the roads, and crews have applied more than 4,000 tons of abrasives and salt.
