ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - As we approach Memorial Weekend and the unofficial start to summer it would only be appropriate to have sun and summer-like temperatures and we will beginning today.
Breezy southwest winds should push your backyard thermometer into the mid to upper 80s with plenty of blue sky overhead. Tomorrow is a different story.
Wednesday morning we'll start off just fine but in the afternoon a cool front will approach from the north and parallel I-70 by late afternoon. As it arrives it will likely generate strong storms by late afternoon that should last through mid to late evening. There is a slight chance some of those could be severe with the biggest threat coming from the potential for large hail and damaging winds.
On Thursday the front should be slightly south and west of St. Louis, which is where the best chance for storms would be, though they aren't likely to be severe, and highs will be cooler – near 80 degrees.
Friday through Sunday, that same front is the focal point for potential rain so all three days there is a slight chance your afternoon and evening plans could be impacted by storms with highs near 80. By Memorial Day it looks like the front will lift north and allow slightly warmer temperatures into the region but leave us dry with highs in the mid-80s.
