Slight chance for showers today

ST. LOUIS - After a night of heavy rain and thick fog we saw a few breaks in the cloud deck this morning. But only a few; they're gone or going away soon.

This afternoon we won't see much sun but most of us should stay dry. There's a slight chance of a stray sprinkle or shower for everyone but the best chance for rain will be across central and eastern Illinois.

Areas east of St. Louis should have highs in the low 70s while the rest of the region will see temperatures climb into the mid to upper 70s.

Tonight skies will clear but fog will return again with lows in the low to mid 60s and Thursday will start well, with plenty of morning sun after the fog lifts.

Thursday afternoon and evening is a different story, but with a familiar theme: more rain. An approaching cold front will send us showers and thunderstorms from late afternoon through the evening and some are likely to be strong. The rain should wind down overnight through the pre-dawn hours of Friday.

Friday during the day and all day Saturday we'll have great weather (exceptional news for Race for The Cure) with highs in the upper 70s Friday and low 80s Saturday.

Father's Day is looking a bit better! We should stay dry during the day with highs in the mid-80s and then see storms in the evening.
