Hottest day of 2014 arrives

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – Saturday, the temperature at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport nudged 97 degrees, which makes this the warmest day of the year. Yet, the most important parameter was and is the heat index, which has been hovering near 100 for much of the afternoon. Tomorrow, ahead of a huge push of cold air, we're likely to see storms in this transition.

Late Saturday evening and overnight, there is a slight chance for a storm for areas north of St. Louis and it will remain warm for all with lows in the mid-70s to near 80.

The 90s are back tomorrow ahead of a cold front that will send us what quite likely will be air chilly enough to set some records in this part of the Midwest next week.

Storms are likely Sunday afternoon in the St. Louis metro area and for areas south of St. Louis in the evening. There is a chance some could be severe.

By Monday, we'll be looking at highs in the mid-80s, but there's still a chance we could see a few showers or storms.

By Tuesday, we'll get to see a bit of sun but highs will be in the low to mid 70s.
