I-70 backed up for miles after weather-related wrecks

WARREN COUNTY, Mo. (KSDK) – Traffic remains backed up on Interstate 70 near the border of Warren and St. Charles Counties after inclement weather caused numerous accidents – including an overturned fire truck.

The accidents were centered near mile marker 195, leaving the highway backed up all the way to Wentzville, Saturday night. Reports indicate there were no serious injuries.

Warrenton Fire Protection District issued a statement that while responding to the initial accident reports, one of its rescue pumpers was involved in a rollover accident. No one was injured.

NewsChannel 5 spoke to Kevin Dern, a driver who had been stuck on the interstate for more than six hours, early Sunday morning.

The accident cleared around 9 a.m. Sunday, but another accident occurred on in the eastbound lanes of the highway just west of the original accident, near Exit 188. Warren County Fire Department is responding to that accident.
