ST. LOUIS - Wednesday's rain is not expected to crest rivers in eastern Missouri any higher than what's already happening from last weekend's torrential downpours.
The Meramec River at Valley Park crested Wednesday morning at 43.31 feet, which is 27 feet above the flood stage of 16 feet, and just shy of a record 44.1 feet. A second, smaller crest is expected to occur later this week.
In Arnold, the Meramec River is expected to crest Wednesday evening around 46 feet, which is 22 feet above the flood stage of 24 feet and shy of a record 47.3 feet.
St. Charles could potentially see moderate to major flooding as the Missouri River crests near 36 feet on Thursday, about 11 feet above the flood stage of 25 feet.
5 On Your Side meteorologists are predicting that rain will continue on Thursday, diminishing toward the evening hours. Beginning Friday, we'll see much nicer weather as rain moves out of the region.
