MoDOT: 'Delay travel until late Monday morning if possible'

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – In anticipation of freezing rain and icy conditions, the Missouri Department of Transportation recommends that drivers in some parts of the viewing area delay travel until late Monday morning if possible.

The worst of this winter weather is expected to hit St. Charles, north St. Louis County and the north part of the city of St. Louis, according to a news release.

"The intensity of the storm is expected to be heaviest in the northern part of our district this time. That means road conditions could be worse in St. Charles, North St. Louis County and portions of the City of St. Louis. We have adjusted resources to prepare for this but if motorists in these areas can delay travel until late morning that will help, too," said MoDOT District Engineer Becky Allmeroth in a news release.

MoDOT crews will use a combination of salt brine, rock salt and beet juice to improve area roadways during the storm.
