More warming centers opened to meet demand

(KSDK) – Warming centers have sprouted in three different areas in the St. Louis metropolitan area Monday morning due to the below zero conditions.

The VFW in Staunton, Ill. is open for anyone in need of an immediate place to get warm, and you can contact them at 618-635-3636 or contact Alderman Rick Johnson at 618-407-2358. If you're in need of transportation, please go to City Hall.

Caseyville Township Building, located at 10001 Bunkum Road in Fairview Heights, Ill. is serving as a warming center as well. Citizens are advised to bring their necessities to the center as amenities are limited.

Contact the Fairview Heights Police Department, if transportation is needed.

St. Francois County Ambulance District has opened its fifth emergency shelter for anyone in assistance. House 4 at Anchor Drive in Park Hills has a very large space with ample parking and even a backup supply of thousands of gallons of water for residents. The District also has dozens of cots and blankets for emergency use. Anyone needing warming shelter and directions to the closest Ambulance Station should call Ambulance District at 573-431-0030.
