Snow returns to St. Louis in time for Valentine's Day

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – It looks like Valentine sweethearts will get the gift of a wintry-mix from Mother Nature Friday.

Missouri and Illinois are enduring yet another storm as a winter weather system moves through on the day of love. This weak storm, known as a clipper system, will drop between a trace and three inches of snow across St. Louis metro and areas to the east.

The storm arrived early this morning bringing a light mixture of sleet, freezing rain, rain and snow across the area.

A dusting to up to an inch is expected in the St. Louis metro area with areas farther to the northeast receiving between 2 to 4 inches of total snowfall.

Snow will end by early afternoon with skies clearing overnight. Temperatures will tumble into the teens this evening with wind chills in the single digits.

Saturday will remain cold with a chance for flurries, but then a well-deserved warming trend begins as we end the weekend. Next week, temperatures will reach into 50s and 60s with two chances for rain.
