ST. LOUIS - Another hot, humid day is up and running with highs on the low to mid-90s and the heat index once again nearing 100. But, unlike Saturday, a cold front is oozing in from the north and the result is likely to be stormy.
There is a slight chance we could see severe storms across southeast Missouri, central and southern Illinois this afternoon and evening with the biggest threat coming from the potential for large hail and damaging winds. The threat area is just south and east of the metro but we could still see strong storms here from mid to late afternoon.
During the course of the evening as the cold front moves south the possibility of storms goes with it and by midnight the threat of rain should end altogether.
Monday will be cooler with highs in the mid-80s but the atmosphere will still be quite unsettled so expect showers and storms to re-develop, especially in the afternoon.
