Why meteorologists can't wear green

ST. LOUIS – Monday is St. Patrick's Day, and most people who are in the spirit are decked out in green.

But there's one group of people who can't wear green: meteorologists!

Meteorologists stand in front of green screens, and because the graphics they use are computer-generated, the graphics would end up covering the green clothing, making them look like floating heads.

Chief Meteorologist Cindy Preszler and digital producer Brandie Piper demonstrated at 5 p.m. what happens when someone wearing green stands in front of the green wall. Click the video player above to watch.
