Savannah Louie is an anchor and multi-skilled journalist for Today in St. Louis at 5 On Your Side in St. Louis, Missouri.
She joined the Today in St. Louis family in September 2019 and says she’s thrilled to be part of the team.
Previously, Savannah was a multi-skilled journalist and fill-in traffic anchor for sister station KENS 5 in San Antonio, Texas. She also worked as a correspondent and co-host for Great Day SA and appeared regularly on ESPN San Antonio radio.
Savannah’s experience in St. Louis news began months before she joined Today in St. Louis. In June 2019, Savannah was asked to help 5 On Your Side with Stanley Cup and flooding coverage. Some of the most memorable stories of her career came from the 10 days she spent in Portage des Sioux, Alton, and St. Charles County. After experiencing a special kindness and resilience you’ll only find in the Midwest, Savannah is thrilled to be back.
Her interest in journalism began in high school, when her parents “highly encouraged” (rather, forced) her to take a public speaking course. While she initially dreaded the class, Savannah quickly discovered a love for writing, and found a thrill of communicating with others.
Savannah attended Southern Methodist University, where she first pursued a major in public relations and a minor in human rights. After a general education class required her to film news packages, Savannah discovered a passion for broadcast news. She became involved with the school’s broadcast program, working in front and behind a camera.
When she’s not in studio, Savannah enjoys spending time outdoors. She has a passion for running and is on a never-ending search for the best food in the area. She loves to travel – having been to more than 25 countries, and just as many U.S. states.
