ST. LOUIS — Athletes train for years for the opportunity to compete on American Ninja Warrior. This May, Sam Folsom, 16, of Woodriver, Illinois will get the chance to test his skills on a ninja course at the Dome at America’s Center. Tuesday afternoon, Folsom was handed a “Golden Ticket” to the competition, compliments of American Ninja Warrior.
The surprise was carried out live on 5 On Your Side at 4. Folsom was speechless when Show Me St. Louis’ Courtney Budelman handed him the ticket. Folsom works out with other ninja hopefuls at the Ultimate Ninja’s gym in Chesterfield. The training facility is managed by Jamie Rahn, aka “Captain NBC’, one of the most recognized stars on American Ninja Warrior. Rahn’s a fan favorite with superhero costumes and crazy hair.
“Most athletes train several days a week to master the skills needed to complete the ninja course,” said Rahn.
Folsom is one of those athletes and often hits the gym six days a week. He’s even built his own course in the family barn. Folsom has been competing in smaller regional competitions, but since he’s just 16, had no idea he’s be invited to compete. The current age limit for the show is 19. You can watch Folsom compete live this May in St. Louis.
