ST. LOUIS — Dr. Yu Sharon Chen is a board-certified Oncologist with SSM Medical Group and St. Louis CyberKnife and shares with us what CyberKnife is and how it is beneficial to those with cancer.

CyberKnife is a frame-less robotic radio surgery system used for treating benign tumors, malignant tumors, and other medical conditions. This device moves around a patient and delivers beams of radiation to a target area. Since the treatment is very focused and delivers high dosage of radiation, people are generally done within 1-5 treatment sessions.

The process starts with a mapping session, proceeded by a high-resolution CAT scan, which then transfers all the data into a CyberKnife planning station. Once all this is complete a specialized plan is formed that is best suitable for the patient’s condition.

St. Louis CyberKnife is located at 1011 Bowles Ave in Fenton, MO. You can give them a call at 636-496-4660 or visit their website at stlouiscyberknife.com. You can also find them on Facebook
