Local Meadery is taking Mead back to its ancestral roots

Four Brothers Mead produces honey wine, or Mead.

ST. LOUIS — A new spot in Festus is making an ancient drink. Four Brothers Mead makes honey wine, which is the first recorded known to man alcohol.

The place looks like it could be a scene in Game of Thrones with the Viking hall where large gatherings of family and friends would take place.

The owners of Four Brothers Mead are on a mission to bring back Mead. They are all related in some way, and they all share a bond as veterans.

They use 100% natural, straight from the hive honey to produce their mead. The drink is not as acidic as wine, but instead, a smooth, honey flavor taste.

Shows like Game of Thrones are inspiring fans to try the drink for themselves, and in the show, it’s used as a celebratory drink. Back in the day, it was used for weddings, and this is where the term “honeymoon” came from.

Four Brothers Mead is sold online and in Friar Tuck locations in Missouri. For more information, click here.
