Save A Lot’s Bags for a Brighter Holiday was a huge success!

If you bought a Bag for a Brighter Holiday at Save A Lot this year, you helped them reach their goal!

For the last four years, Save A Lot has hosted Bags for a Brighter Holiday. This event recently wrapped up, and it was certainly a success! Sarah Griffin, Director of Communications at Save A Lot, and Ryan Farmer, Director of Marketing for the St. Louis Area Foodbank, are here to tell us more!

Sarah explains that Bags for a Brighter Holiday is Save A Lot’s annual food donation program. This allows Save A Lot customers to come in a purchase a bag of pre-filled groceries with some staple pantry items for $4.99. Those bags then go directly to local charities and other food pantries to benefit people in the St. Louis area.

The official number of bags sold here in St. Louis totaled 3,800! This is very exciting as Save A Lot set a goal for all 425 corporate stores to sell 50,000 bags, and they beat that number by selling 53,000 bags all over the U.S.!

Ryan shares that these 3,800 bags provided vital food that people in the St. Louis community need. Community partners like Save A Lot make a great difference to the foodbank. On a national level, the $10,000 donation that is coming back to the foodbank will provide thousands of meals as they can create 4 meals with just $1. That equals 40,000 meals!
